Support Curbside Organics Collection in Durango

The City Of Durango is considering adding organic materials collection (food scraps and yard trimmings) to its curbside trash and recycling service. This collection and composting program could:
· Reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill by as much as 40%;
· Cut greenhouse gas emissions;
· Produce compost and mulch that improve soil health and retain water
· Help Durango meet its climate and sustainability goals.
Thanks to a Producer Responsibility Program, the City should have funds to pay for our current recycling program, and can use those savings to provide this new service.
If you live in the City of Durango, please sign this letter of support by September 1st and encourage the City to make food scraps and yard trimmings part of their curbside collection program.
