The Trump administration is seeking to eliminate the Roadless Rule, which protects millions of acres of National Forest across the country. The Roadless Rule protects not only our national forests, but also the wildlife and their habitat. By allowing roads in these areas, we are allowing clearcut logging, drilling and likely more wildfires, since most are human caused. Protect our forests by protesting the rollback of this important rule.

We found out at the last minute that Rep. Jeff Hurd was in town and we were able to organize a protest against what he and the Congressional Western caucus are doing to Bears Ears and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monuments. We had a good turnout at our sign waving and made sure that he knows that we want him to Protect our Public Lands and that he hurt us by voting for HR 1 (the "BBB").

The City Of Durango is considering adding organic materials collection (food scraps and yard trimmings) to its curbside trash and recycling service. This collection and composting program could: · Reduce the amount of waste sent to the landfill by as much as 40%; · Cut greenhouse gas emissions; · Help protect bears by keeping food scraps out of our trash; · Produce compost and mulch that improve soil health and retain water · Help Dura

The battery moratorium is preventing LPEA from fixing its rooftop solar red zones and batteries are an essential part to renewable energy resilience. Obviously batteries are not a good fit for every location but we should not have a blanket anti-solar battery moratorium and approach the issue of batteries in La Plata in a site specific project-by-project way-- which is exactly what the BESS code is and what the county commissioners will be voting on, on the 16th!

More than 70 people turned out to Buckley Park in Durango on Friday afternoon to protest the targeting and deportation of immigrants by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and the Trump administration. See Durango Herald article .

Indivisible Durango marched in the Fourth of July parade as part of the “Climate Champions” group organized by Citizens’ Climate Lobby (“CCL”). The theme of the 4th of July Parade was “Wet and Wild” and the CCL theme was “Free to Save our Oceans”. CCL and Indivisible Durango wanted to show that there are many local organizations concerned about the climate. The majority of Americans are concerned about the climate. We aim to demonstrate that they are not alone.

Huge turnout in Durango for the June 14th "No Kings" march and rally . The paper counted 2,688 marchers and that did not include the folks who did not march, but choose to just show up at park for the rally. Durango residents meet in Buckley Park to defend Medicaid on Saturday Over 100 residents gathered in Buckley Park in Durango and marched down the sidewalks on either side of downtown Main Avenue for an Indivisible Durango demonstration defending Medicaid.

Indivisible Durango and local community lined up at the DoubleTree intersection to thank our local federal workers.
