"Trump is out to carve up the world into three large power blocs — one under the thuggery of Putin, the second under the thuggery of Xi, and the third under Trump’s thuggery."
Make no mistake: by invading Venezuela and kidnapping their President, Trump is no better than Putin invading Ukraine and Xi's developing dream to invade Taiwan.
CALL CONGRESS. CALL REPRESENTATIVE HURD!
Congress must immediately pass a War Powers Resolution to end this illegal military operation and reassert it's Constitutional responsibilities.
The Constitution and the 1973 War Powers Resolution require that Congress approve / authorize the use of military force (AUMF) and/or use the authority granted to them by the 1973 War Powers Resolution which requires the President notify Congress within 48 hours of deploying US forces into hostilities and to end any deployment within 60 days.
Representative Hurd wants to be about America First, America the Brave / Strong / Principled. Demand he fight against this latest grab by Trump (and note that he's already killed at least 115 people in boats with no notification to Congress nor explanation of rationale or outcomes.)
"As many will recall, Trump campaigned for president on an "America First" platform. He claimed to be the "peace candidate." Well, at a time when 60 percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, when our healthcare system is collapsing, when people can’t afford housing, and when Artificial Intelligence threatens to wipe out millions of jobs, it is time for the president to focus on the crises facing this country and end military adventurism abroad. Trump is failing in his job to "run" the United States. He should not be trying to "run" Venezuela".-Bernie Sanders
Call your Representatives..every day and tell them to put a stop to this authoritarian administration's illegal actions!
Michael Bennet and John Hickenlooper also must weigh in on this.
In addition, if you wish, thank them for fighting for Colorado:
to continue NCAR (National Center for Atmospheric Research) funding
to get emergency relief monies for the recent flooding in Pagosa, and fires in CO
to allow the drinking water project for SE Colorado to proceed - it had unanimous passage in the House and Senate and Trump vetoed it.
